Yearly Trend of marine litter in the Northwest Pacific Region
 As shown in upper figure, the number and weight of marine litter increase rapidly from 2005. One reason is the number of surveyed beaches was increased in 2005 with starting of monitoring survey in the Pacific side (shown in right figure (upper)).
 The number of marine litter double to previous years and the weight increased threefold compared with the increase (one and half) of surveyed sites.

 Right figure (lower) shows the number and weight per 100m2. From this figure, it is clear that the number per 100m2 is decreasing against the weight per 100m2 is increasing. In 2006, the weight per 100m2 increased dramatically.
 In addition, specially in Japan, the weight per one marine litter is increasing (shown in bottom table).
 Because of this, it is necessary to pay more attention to the composition of marine litter and its change.
